Annual General Meeting 2018

All QUB Student Members* are welcome to attend:

Dragonslayers’ Annual General Meeting
10th April 2018
The Space, Queen’s Students’ Union

This will be your chance to provide feedback and influence the society for the future. Due to the imminent closure of the SU building, the upcoming committee will have a crucial role to play ensuring the survival of the society for the next few years.

Some Pizza and Soft Drinks will be provided. There will be a £10 voucher up for grabs to one lucky Student on the night, drawn at random!

As required by the new SU Constitution, we will be modifying our own Constitution. The proposed changes will be posted by March 27th for all members to review. There will also be a vote to ratify these changes at the AGM.

Please bring student card in order to stand and/or vote in the upcoming elections, in accordance with Students’ Union’s Constitution, for the positions detailed below:

Anime Rep
Electronic Gaming Rep
Traditional Gaming Rep
Social Secretary

If any Member wishes to raise any issues for discussion at the AGM, these must be submitted to the President 7+ days before the AGM.

* All Other Members (Non-QUB-Students) are welcome to be present, but are not eligible to vote, or stand for the aforementioned positions, and regular Dragonslayers activities will continue in half of The Space. However, there will be a society wide General Meeting on the 15th of May 2018, which will more closely resemble AGMs of the past. This will allow up to inform all members about society news, and changes going forward. Here we will also open the floor for members to demonstrate interest in non elected, co-opted committee positions.

Q-Con XXV Has Launched

Q-Con, the UK & Ireland’s greatest weekend of gaming and anime entertainment, has officially launched for 2018 with this year’s event set to take place on June 22nd – 24th.

Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, Q-Con takes place annually in Queen’s University Belfast Students’ Union, and is a weekend long celebration of everything gaming and anime related, from eSports and Tabletop, to Cosplay and Movie Screens. Major events already confirmed to make a welcome comeback in 2018 include our Cosplay Extravaganza, Q-Comedy Show, our Saturday night pub quiz, 100s of Gaming Tournaments, Club Q-Con across two floors, and much more to be announced!

As always Q-Con’s award-winning roster of gaming competitions will be back with a bang, including a weekend-long League of Legends tournament, dozens of console tournaments from open to close every day, a huge timetable of traditional, tabletop and board gaming tournaments and lots more.

Anime fans can be the centre of attention again with a number of cosplay competitions planned, complementing our timetable of panels, workshops, screenings and unique events that won’t be found anywhere else!

This year’s Q-Con will be our most exciting yet – we have a host of new ideas and are working hard to implement them. Keep an eye out as we release more details in the coming months!-Ben Harrison, Q-Con’s Managing Director

Expect Q-Con’s trade hall and artists’ alley to be once again packed with everything you’ll need to make your weekend a memorable one, including Replay Games and many more – a full list will be confirmed as the weekend draws near. Our immensely popular indie game developers area will be soon accepting applications – this will be announced in due course.

Last year over 6,500 attendees packed the Students’ Union building as well as the nearby Elmwood Hall and South Dining Hall. Once again, the event is expected to be a sell-out and attendees are encouraged to pre-register online to avoid disappointment. Pre-registration for Q-Con XXV is online now.

Information on special guests, new events, accommodation options and more will be released in the coming weeks. In the meantime, get involved on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and don’t forget to mark yourself as going on our Facebook events page!
