Slayers24 – The Freshers Awaken

Start off the new semester in the best possible way, with Slayers24. Join us at Queen’s Students’ Union on Saturday November 4th, now beginning at 10am, for a full 24 hours of  fun-filled gaming and some great anime fun!
Entry is £5 for Members and £8 for Non-Members and can be paid upon arriving.

Don’t let Halloween die too soon, we expect even more cosplay at this 24, and we will be running a selection of spookier games, including The VillageBetrayal at House on the Hill, Dread, Mysterium and many, many more. Have no fear, we still have all the usual great Console gaming, PC Gaming and eSports, Tabletop games, Anime Screenings on offer; not to mention our wide range of other events including:

  • MIDNIGHT RAFFLE (Grand prize to be revealed soon)
  • Traditional Halloween themed games
  • 1-2 Switch friendly group contests
  • E-sports
  • BYOPC LAN gaming
  • Massive group games (Including The Village and Two Rooms and a Boom)
  • RPGs – including Halloween themed one-shots
  • RPGs – How-to-GM for beginners Workshop
  • Anime events (More details will follow, COSPLAYERS WELCOME)
  • Wargaming

Four Star Pizza will be delivering pizza an huge quantity of food in the evening, thanks to our excellent discount: a 16” pizza for only a tenner! Additionally, because our 24 is such a special occasion, on this night only they will throw in your choice of garlic bread or wedges for free, or upgrade to Chicken strips for only an extra £2, when you order through us!

Freshers Night 2017

Welcome (back) to Dragonslayers, for the 2017/18 academic year.

We’re kicking things off with our Freshers Night, on Tuesday, October 3rd, promising a fun-filled night showcasing all the fun that Dragonslayers has to offer, including Consoles, Tabletop Gaming, Anime and our massive Start-of-Year raffle, with about 100 prizes to be won, including a brand new Nintendo Switch!

Remember to first call at our registration desk to purchase your membership, receive your Membership card and receive our brand new ‘Dragonlayers PASSPORT’. This ‘Passport’ will be your key to exploring all that ‘slayers has to offer, and simply by collecting stamps, you can win additional raffle tickets, to increase your chances of winning great prizes.

The night begins at 6pm, with the raffle set to start at 9:30pm, we look forward to seeing you all there.

Q-Con XXIV

Remember, Q-Con XXIV is this weekend!

There will be no Dragonslayers tonight, 13th June, due to setup, or this Saturday 17th June, due to the convention itself.

Preregistration is now closed, however, there will be a limited number of weekend passes, and individual day passes available. So if you wish to attend, but have not secured your place, get down early.

Registration desk opens at noon on Friday,16th June, we look forward to seeing everyone there!

Dragonsalyers will return to it’s usual activities next Tuesday, 20th June, expect myself and the rest of the committee to completely exhausted, but eager to help!

Q-Con XXIV

There is now less than six weeks until Q-Con XXIV!

Q-Con is the UK & Ireland’s greatest weekend of gaming and anime entertainment, with this year’s event taking place on June 16th – 18th.

Now in its 24th year, Q-Con takes place annually in Queen’s University Belfast Students’ Union, and is a weekend long celebration of everything gaming and anime related, from eSports and Tabletop, to Cosplay and Movie Screens.  Major events already confirmed to make a welcome comeback in 2017 include The Irish Video Game Orchestra, Q-Comedy Show, our Saturday night pub quiz,  Club Q-Con across two floors and much more to be announced.

As always Q-Con’s award-winning roster of gaming competitions will be back with a bang, including a weekend-long League of Legends tournament, dozens of console tournaments from open til close every day, a huge timetable of traditional, tabletop and board gaming tournaments and lots more.

Anime fans can be the centre of attention again with a number of cosplay competitions planned, complementing our timetable of panels, workshops, screenings and unique events that won’t be found anywhere else!

Expect Q-Con’s trade hall and artists’ alley to be once again packed with everything you’ll need to make your weekend a memorable one, including Replay Games and many more.

Last year over 5,500 attendees packed the Students’ Union building as well as the nearby Elmwood Hall and South Dining Hall.  Once again, the event is expected to be a sell-out and attendees are encouraged to pre-register online to avoid disappointment.  Pre-registration for Q-Con XXIV is currently live, go to out Eventbrite page to register.

Slayers24 – The Merrying! – December 3rd

It’s nearly that time of year again – an obese old man dressed in red breaks into your home to leave you lots of shiny new games to play! Why not get together and give your old ones a proper send off before then?

Slayers24 returns, on December 3rd, for the usual fun filled night of epic gaming! We have all the usual activities on offer; Console gaming, PC Gaming and eSports, Tabletop games, Anime Screenings; not to mention our wide range of events and tournaments on offer!

As with all Dragonslayers events, Slayers24 is 18+ only for the length of the event, so remember to bring appropriate ID.

Entry is £5 for members, £8 non-members, pay on the door.

As always, we’ll be asking Four Star Pizza Belfast to do the catering, which gets us the excellent deal of a 16” pizza, with your choice of garlic bread or wedges for only a tenner, or upgrade to Chicken strips to your order for an extra £2! We’ll be taking orders from 5:30pm!

This Slayers24 will play host to the wonderful broadcasting of Queen’s Radio, who will be playing throughout the night with us!

This Slayers24 will also feature a Christmas Artists’ Alley!! So make sure to come along with some savings to get some Christmas shopping done too!

Christmas Dinner

Now that Halloween has passed, we all know what comes next.

CHRISTMAS!!!

Dragonslayers is once again getting in on the usual festivities with our annual Christmas dinner.

Join us at Cosmo, Victoria Square, on Tuesday, December 13th at 7pm.

To attend, purchase your ticket at Dragonslayers regular meetings; Tuesday nights 6pm to 10:30pm or Saturday 1pm to 6pm, at the low-low cost of £15 for all you can eat cuisine from all over the world.

Numbers are limited, and on a first-come, first-served basis, so don’t delay!

Attack of the Steam Machines!

With the new year comes new surprises, and this year we’ve decided to do something a little different.

With the help of the gaming crew from this year’s Q-Con, and a few member donations, we’re proud to announce the addition of Steambox gaming to the consoles this year!

We’re using the Steam Link to bring you a selection of games from our eSports gaming PCs, streamed over our improved network and played on any TV on-demand, with a collection of Slayers owned and member donated games to boot. Whilst the collection is vast, the local co-op and competitive multiplayer games we have on initial offer are as follows:

New Website!

Welcome to the new Dragonslayers website. It’s been a long time coming, but we’re very pleased to bring you this new portal of Dragonslayers related information!

There will be an often updated news section, with the latest goings on of the Society, informational pages about who we are and what we do, as well as detailed sections about what we have on offer for each of the major sections of gaming at Slayers.

You’ll also be able to look up our newest Anime schedules, so you can keep up to date on what excellent shows we’ll be screening every week!

Our events page is jam-packed with our upcoming events for you to keep an eye on; make sure to book dates off work and studying to indulge in our excellent plans for the year.
