The Queen's University Belfast Dragonslayers Gaming and Anime Club was made the Ulster Bank Society of the Year by the Students' Union. This is the first time in six years that this award has been conveyed, making this an honour of the highest degree... The Society of the Year Awards are a way for the Students' Union of Queen's University to recognise the achievements and good work done by non-sporting clubs and societies within the University. On Wednesday 3rd May representatives from the nominated societies along with dignitaries from the University, members of the Students' Union Council and representatives from the Ulster Bank attended the 2006 Ulster Bank Society of the Year Awards Dinner in the Great Hall at Queens.
There were four awards up for grabs, as well as a number of honourable mentions - "The Best New or Improved Society" for a society which had just started that year or had improved substantially, "The Society Event of the Year" for the best society run event of the year, "The Society Person of the Year" for the person who has contributed most to the societies of the Students Union, and finally prestigious "The Society of the Year".
Although the competition was fierce, and there were many successful clubs and events, the Queen's University Belfast Dragonslayers Gaming and Anime Club was made the Ulster Bank Society of the Year by the Students' Union. This is the first time in six years that this award has been conveyed, making this an honour of the highest degree...
In my capacity as club president I would like to take this opportunity to thank every member of the Dragonslayers club for their part in making this possible, everyone at Queen's University who has helped out the club over the years and finally the Students' Union Council for their support and acknowledgement in giving us this award. |
