The convention is held over a weekend and runs from saturday morning, till sunday evening, with many varied events held each day. The convention held the traditional roleplaying fare, such as D&D, as well as LARP events, CCGaming, Boardgames, Wargaming and even seminars on how to create your own games.
Dragonslayers made its entrance by helping transport goodies for Black Lion. Black Lion is a gaming shop in Edinburgh, which caters to all facets of the roleplay gaming hobby, the blacklion website can be found on www.black-lion.co.uk.
Once we made it to the con proper we made a split, with president Ben deciding that he might like to try his hand at some D&D, never getting to play it himself with having to do so much work for dragonslayers at home. Andrew and myself ventured into a LARP event called Labyrinth of the Minotaur, which required us to save a princess and vanquish a mighty minotaur. We succeeded, but alas where waylaid by a variety of traps along the way, including free alcohol! The Minotaur knew how to bait us well.
For the afternoon we gathered together again and played a fantastic game run by our friend Alan Jackson. Id love to describe how fantastic this game was, but its super-secret, so you will all have to seek him out and get him to run it for you.
On sunday morning Ben and Andrew broke free of imperial prison in Star Wars D20, while I suffered from a bout of Paranoia XP (Edit: and a bout of alcohol poisoning … Loq). The hunt for commie mutant traitors continued into the afternoon when Andrew and I joined the Paranoia LARP event.
Everyone had lots of fun at the convention, and we would all like to thank Shevaun Frazier, Conpulsion Director, for the great convention. Special thanks go out to Lucy, Jo and Alan, for putting us up for the con (or was it putting up with us?), you guys where great.
Peace out.
