You can still, of course, still join Dragonslayers at a cost of just £3 for Queen's students or £10 for non-students. That's for an entire year's membership - a bargain.

Also, our first all-night event of the year is THIS WEEKEND!

Unfortunately, the planned NI-LAN 36 hour LAN has had to be postponed. However, that won't stop us having a blast. After all, we have the Students' Union to ourselves all night!

Hey everyone its that time of the year again. I'd like to welcome all the new students joining us this year at Queens, I hope you'll enjoy your time at uni as much as I have these past 4 years and if this is your first time in Belfast or Northern Ireland in general I hope the “Norn-Iron” culture shock wasn’t too much.

With all the lectures you will hopefully be attending and all the studying you will of course be doing student life can be stressful, and everyone needs a place to unwind and have fun as well as to meet new people - that is where Dragonslayers comes in!

The 36 hour time frame allows the average gamer to get a few hours sleep and return the next day for more gaming, while the truly hardcore can try and last the entire weekend. The event has a similar setup to previous Slayers24 events with a large PC gaming LAN as well as many console and traditional games taking place over the weekend. The addition of NI-LAN to the event gives us the support and infrastructure to host more PC's than ever before.

Prices for the weekend are £15 prepay, £20 on the day for the PC LAN and £5 for the console and traditional gaming events.

Were expecting upwards of 50 participants for the LAN alone, prepay is the ONLY way to guarantee your place at the event so register now at NI-LAN's website to avoid disappointment.

The smaller space will necessitate running fewer consoles than normal however other games should not be effected.

We will be returning to the Snack Bar for our long awaited Freshers Night the following Tuesday the 7th of October.

As part of what is set to be a great year of Dragonslayers' events in the Students' Union, we are very pleased to announce that we are bringing Belfast's best alternative, goth and industrial night to Queen's.

• What is it? Drinking and dancing, all to the sounds goth, industrial and 'stuff'. REQUESTs WELCOME!
• Who is it? Disc_Mistress, our regular DJ for Q-Con.
• Where is it? Bunatee Bar, QUB Students' Union.
• When is it? Saturday 27 September, doors open at 9pm.
• How much? £5

It is in the Bunatee this month, and once term starts it will be in the Speakeasy on the third Saturday of every month.
